Our Story
Selected Care started with a simple observation: families often don't know what's available to them.
There are home care programs that can help. There are situations where a family member or friend may qualify to be paid as a caregiver. There are services covered by Medicaid that many families never learn about — not because they don't qualify, but because the system is hard to navigate and no one ever explains it.
After years working in home care in New York, David and his brother Lazer saw this pattern over and over: families struggling alone with caregiving, unaware of help that was already available to them. They started Selected Care to do something about it — to build a home care agency that meets families where they are, explains options in plain language, and helps people access support they're entitled to.
Our Approach
We're a small, family-run agency. That's intentional. A few things we believe matter:
Plain language, no overpromising.
Eligibility, approvals, and care decisions are made by state programs and health plans, not by us. We help families understand the process honestly — and we never promise what we can't deliver
Fast payments for caregivers.
When a family member becomes a paid caregiver, that paycheck matters. We don't sit on payments. We pay quickly, because the people doing the work shouldn't have to wait.

David
Founder
David leads Selected Care's day-to-day operations and client relationships. He brings years of leadership experience from home care in New York, where he saw firsthand how confusing the system can be for the families it's meant to serve. He started Selected Care to build something simpler.
Lazer
Operating Partner
Lazer handles the operational and compliance side of Selected Care — entity formation, regulatory applications, HIPAA, technology, and the systems that keep the business running carefully behind the scenes.
Where We Serve
Selected Care serves families across Michigan, with our office in Dearborn. We help with non-medical home care, including the Michigan Home Help program and family or friend caregiver support.
We're also preparing to expand into additional states, including Pennsylvania and Missouri, where similar consumer-directed care programs are available. If you're outside Michigan and want to know when we launch in your state, please reach out.
